What the
media say

The Grey Matter is a sharp bike. It’s simply ready to go, ready to tackle whatever route you want to take on.

"A very responsive bike with solid handling. Even when it gets steep and you have to go around a sharp curve on gravel, there is grip at the same time as you have a feeling of being in balance and in control of the bike."

Durable Fun Do Everything Bike

By Colin Ozanne from US, New York

I have had this Grey Matter about one year and six months. I bought it new at the LBS and I have put about 2500 miles on it during all seasons and on all surfaces. The BIKE: Quality of workmanship is very good. The geometry is comfy. I added a carbon seat post for comfort and it helped. I also changed the crankset from the stock FSA 170 to a different brand at the 155 length. The 170 was okay but I have a hip problem and the shorter crank keeps the pain away and I can ride hours not minutes without issue. The wheels are great, no issues at all since purchase, they are sturdy and have taken some big hits with very little impact on the trueness. The stock tires were burned up quick, they were comfy but not durable for mostly road riding. The APEX 1 drive train is a bit loud but performs great. It just always works very well with the occasional barrel adjustments. I have replaced the chain once when I changed the crankset and chainring. Apex Hydro brakes work just fine, replaced the pads only once so far and cleaned the rotors. Stock saddle is relatively nice for stock saddles. I have no issues with fit. Top tube and other attachments on the frame are useful for bottle cages, bags, fenders, racks etc. IMPRESSION: The bike is great at being good at lots of things. I would characterize it as a very comfortable, but not boring, road/gravel bike that is very useful. I use it for fun daily fitness and joy road/rail trail rides (10-30 miles) and then connect a fork bag to run some quick errands. I wanted a road bike that could be more comfortable and take wider tires for varied surface and comfort but still be fun on daily road rides. There are many brands that have a similar bike but this one provided the best value while still meeting my intended use. It is the bike that does everything well and requires minimal maintenance. IMPROVEMENTS: If I were purchasing today, I would like to see Argon have a drive train option with a 2x or with a lower climbing gear/smaller chain ring and smaller cranks. CONCLUSION: Great option when the price of the carbon versions are too high. When compared to other top brands this was the right mix of versatility, comfort, speed, adventure, and durability. What more could you want?
